We've Seen
All of These
Every C-Bus fault has a cause and a fix. Here are the most common ones we attend across Sydney.
Failed C-Bus Power Supply
The PSU powers all units on the network. When it fails, switches become unresponsive and units drop offline. A failing PSU also causes ghost messages and cascading failures as remaining supplies take on excess load.
Welded Relay Contacts
Relay output units can have contacts weld shut due to load switching over many years. Result: lights or circuits that won't turn off regardless of commands. Can create safety and energy cost issues.
Ghost Messages / Random Switching
Loads energising randomly — especially at night — are caused by corrupted data packets on the network. Almost always traced back to a failing power supply or a compromised unit with a corrupted address.
Flashing Switch Indicator
When you press a switch and the LED flashes instead of confirming, the switch is attempting to communicate but not receiving acknowledgement from the network. Classic early warning of PSU issues.
Dead or Frozen Touchscreen
C-Bus Colour Touch Screens (5080CTC series) went end-of-life in 2015–2019. Dead transmit circuits cause the screen to appear normal but commands don't execute. Repair or modern replacement options available.
Schedule / Scene Corruption
Schedules firing at wrong times, scenes loading incorrect levels, or group addresses conflicting are programming faults — not hardware. These are resolved by direct connection with C-Bus Toolkit and reprogramming.
Network Interface / Controller Fault
The CNI or SHAC controller is the bridge between software and hardware. A failed controller means the entire system becomes uncontrollable from any app or touchscreen even if individual units still work.
DALI Zone Not Responding
DALI ballast or driver faults, incorrect addressing, or a failed DALI gateway are the usual causes. We diagnose and re-address DALI networks and can replace failed ballasts or DALI gateways on-site.
App / Remote Access Not Working
Loss of mobile app control typically points to a network configuration change, a failed CNI, expired software licence, or a broken IP connection between the controller and local network.

Answers
My C-Bus switches are completely dead — what's likely wrong?
The most common cause of all switches going dead simultaneously is a failed C-Bus power supply. The PSU powers every unit on the network bus, so when it fails, nothing responds. We carry common PSUs and can typically replace on the same visit. A secondary cause is a corrupted system file on the network controller — also diagnosable and repairable on-site.
Can you fix a C-Bus system you didn't install?
Yes — and this is one of the most common scenarios we attend. C-Bus is not password-protected by default. We connect with C-Bus Toolkit, read the network file, document the system as-found, and diagnose from there. The original installer doesn't need to be involved at all.
How quickly can you attend for C-Bus repair in Sydney?
Same-day attendance is available for urgent faults across Greater Sydney, subject to scheduling. Call 0422 469 739 to confirm availability. For non-urgent faults, we typically schedule within 1–3 business days.
Lights are turning on randomly at 3am — what's happening?
This is a classic C-Bus ghost message fault. Random data packets on the bus are being interpreted as commands by output units. The most common root cause is a failing power supply with unstable output voltage, or a unit with a corrupted network address that is broadcasting noise. Diagnosable and fixable on-site.
Do you carry spare parts on-site?
Yes. We carry common C-Bus components including power supplies, relay output units, and input units. For less common parts we source directly from Schneider's distribution network and can usually turn around delivery within 1–2 business days.
Do you service strata buildings and commercial premises?
Yes. We regularly service strata complexes, commercial office fitouts, retail premises, and institutional buildings across Greater Sydney. We're familiar with strata manager requirements, OHS access procedures, and out-of-hours attendance where needed.
Do you offer C-Bus repair near me anywhere in Sydney?
Yes. We provide C-Bus repair across Greater Sydney including CBD, Eastern Suburbs, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Inner West, Sutherland Shire, St George, Hills District and Western Sydney. If your suburb is in Sydney, we can usually attend.
What's the minimum callout charge?
Our minimum is 3 hours at the applicable rate — $555 standard, $630 emergency, $840 after hours. This covers travel, fault diagnosis and repair within that time. Most single-fault callouts are resolved within the 3-hour minimum.
